Host a 2026 Day of Caring Project
United is the Way to Mobilize Our Community
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 8 a.m. to Noon, Oshkosh Area United Way’s 29th Annual Day of Caring will bring volunteer teams from area businesses, service organizations, and the broader community together to serve across southern Winnebago County.
Last year, more than 200 volunteers completed projects for local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations in just one morning. This year, we’re ready to do it again — and growing.
We invite you to submit a project that will help move your work forward. If you have more than one need or location, you are welcome to submit multiple projects.
Why Host a Project?
Hosting a Day of Caring project allows your organization to:
- Receive hands-on help for projects — big or small
- Amplify your mission and increase community awareness
- Connect with new supporters and volunteers
- Be part of a coordinated, area-wide day of impact
Who Can Host a Project?
The opportunity is open to:
- Nonprofit organizations
- Public and private schools
- Childcare facilities
- Nursing homes and assisted living communities
- Community and municipal organizations
What Makes a Successful Project?
The most successful Day of Caring projects:
- Provide approximately 3 hours of meaningful, hands-on work
- Include clear instructions and identified staff support on site
- Create a visible difference within a short timeframe
Project Ideas May Include:
- Painting and light facility improvements
- Landscaping and outdoor clean-up
- Organizing supplies, storage areas, or program spaces
- Assembling materials, preparing program kits, or putting together furniture
- Building or repairing structures such as shelves and garden beds
- Administrative support such as data entry, filing, inventory tracking, or organizing records
- Skilled-based support such as marketing, IT assistance, policy review, or financial guidance
Many projects naturally support work connected to Lifelong Learning, Health & Wellness, and Enabling Resources — the areas where we are collectively focused.
If you have a project idea that falls outside these examples, we’re happy to discuss it.
Project Materials
Project hosts are asked to provide the materials needed to complete their project. If this presents a challenge, please reach out so we can talk through possible options.
Project Submission Deadline: Tuesday, April 21
After reviewing your submission, our team may reach out if we have questions or need additional details before assigning a volunteer team. Volunteer assignments will be shared with Project Leads the week of May 4.
If you would like to talk through ideas or project details before submitting, reach out via email at amy@oshkoshunitedway.org or call (920) 651-3051.
Let’s collaborate to mobilize our community so everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential — because United is the Way.
