DONOR ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Full-time Exempt Position
Reports to the President & CEO

OVERVIEW

Oshkosh Area United Way is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven Donor Engagement Manager to support donor strategies, deepen donor relationships, and drive fundraising success. In addition to managing financial donor strategies, this role also includes supporting and stewarding non-financial donors and partners ensuring that all contributors feel valued and connected to our mission and grow overall community investment in Oshkosh Area United Way’s work.

This role is ideal for someone who not only thrives in managing data and executing campaigns but also brings a strategic, curious mindset to the table—someone who asks the right questions, identifies trends, and isn’t afraid to think creatively.

In our small and collaborative office, agility is key. The ideal candidate is adaptable and proactive, able to pivot quickly when priorities shift and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the broader team and mission. They must be highly collaborative, enjoy working across functions, and take pride in both behind-the-scenes work and public-facing engagement.

This position requires a balance of analytical thinking, interpersonal finesse, and operational execution; all in service of strengthening our community impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & Relationship-Building Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing strategies to diversify revenue streams and attract new donor segments; tracking fundraising metrics and supporting the CEO in evaluating the effectiveness of development efforts.
  • Implement and refine a moves management system to ensure all donors receive intentional, personalized engagement and cultivate strong, long-term relationships with donors, volunteers, and partners.
  • Prepare correspondence, thank-you letters, and stewardship plans for existing donors.
  • Assist with planning and executing donor recognition and cultivation events.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all donor interactions and records.

Donor Database Management

  • Maintain and manage the CRM system with precision and integrity.
  • Ensure donor records are current, accurate, and effectively segmented for outreach.
  • Track pledges, engagement activity, fulfillment, and campaign performance.
  • Analyze donor trends and giving behavior to inform and execute strategy and donor communications.
  • Generate reports to support data-driven decision-making and targeted stewardship.

Campaign Presentations & Support

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to develop campaign materials and messaging aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of compelling presentations to workplace campaign audiences, corporate partners, service clubs, and other community stakeholders.
  • Train and support employee campaign coordinators and co-chairs to enhance their impact and confidence, helping them stay informed, engaged, and empowered to advocate for United Way.

Administrative & Office Management Duties

  • Serve as point person for ordering supplies and maintaining office equipment.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and greet visitors with professionalism and warmth.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by being communicative, collaborative, proactive, and flexible.
  • Be agile and solution-oriented, with the ability to pivot quickly to meet changing organizational needs and elevate visibility in the community.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent business/organization experience with at least 3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, or CRM/database management with a proved record of success.
  • Proficiency in CRM software; prior experience with donor databases preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a donor-centered mindset.
  • High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, small-team environment.
  • Employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear and be able to lift up to 25 pounds; have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various locations throughout our service area. Most work is done during business hours though some evenings and weekend will be required.
