United Way Raises $1,277,920; Surpasses Goal

The Oshkosh Area United Way (OAUW) 2016 Campaign Chairs, Melissa Kohn, Mary Olson and Petra Roter announced the $1,277,920 total on February 20 at the annual OAUW Community Celebration.  The Oshkosh Convention Center was filled with over 225 guests including Oshkosh Area United Way partner agencies, volunteers, former campaign chairs, business leaders and community supporters.

Back in September, Kohn, Olson and Roter announced the campaign goal of $1.25 million and have dedicated the past several months to reaching and surpassing this goal to be able to help more people in our community.  The money raised will fund more than 50 local programs and initiatives in the areas of health, education and financial stability in 2017.

As the three reflected on their campaign experiences, Olson stated “Oshkosh is a very giving community and you can see the impact of that in the community.  We certainly enjoyed working with all of the workplace campaigns.” Olson stated.  Kohn added “United Way is long-standing and recognized in the community and the message resonates with people.  What amazed me most of all was the support of the leadership of the companies and organizations who offer workplace campaigns.”   Roter summed up her campaign experience with this: “Thanks to the generosity of our community, United Way raised a record-setting dollar amount.  This is strengthening the entire community- Thank you!”

Oshkosh Area United Way is a local, independent organization dedicated to building a stronger community by focusing on the areas of education, financial stability and health.  In partnership with nonprofit agencies, local businesses, community leaders and residents, United Way addresses community needs by providing a network of services while working toward lasting change.
