Some "free" tax preparation products only offer federal (not state) filings or charge extra for anything beyond the most basic forms. That's why partners like UW Oshkosh College of Business, Oshkosh Seniors Center, the IRS, and MyFreeTaxes to offer free help with your taxes. There are two different ways you can file your taxes for free:
IN PERSON During January 2 through April of every year, anyone interested in help with their taxes can call the ADVOCAP office in Oshkosh at (920) 426-0150 to make an appointment for free tax preparation and filing through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) or Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs.
ONLINE If your household earned less than $66,000 in 2018, you can file both your federal and state returns for free online using MyFreeTaxes.com. This is the only free, national, online tax filing product offered by a nonprofit.
