Silver Star Brands ROCKS United Way Campaign

The Silver Star Brands team celebrated the incredible results of their Oshkosh Area United Way (OAUW) workplace campaign by presenting a check for $63,293.19 on November 29.  Silver Star’s 10 member campaign team, led by Dave Richter, saw employee participation increase to 37% from 19% in 2015.  The number of Leadership donors ($500 or more) more than doubled and the corporate 1 to 1 match for employee giving led to an overall 34% increase in donations.

Bruce Valk, company president said “Giving back to the community where we work and live is part of our culture, and it’s a way of life.  I’m incredibly proud of our Silver Star team for investing in the community with their donations to United Way.” Valk presented the check to Sue Panek and Mary Olson of OAUW.    

Nick Kurtz, a member of Silver Star’s campaign team, attributes some of the campaign success to the employee meetings that the team led.  The meetings offered opportunities for employees to learn about the changes that are happening right here in Oshkosh thanks to donations to United Way.   

Panek said “You can see the impact that your donations to United Way are making when you see the positive things happening in our community.  This year alone, $245,697 in earned credits and deductions went back to the pockets of hard working local tax payers; thousands of free books were put into the hands of Oshkosh preschoolers to increase literacy skills critical for school readiness; and eight community members moved from homelessness to stable housing and employment.
