As we dig out after our most recent "Spring" storm (seems more like winter) there is a lot going on to keep us busy. There are the spring holidays, spring break, spring vacations, and the opportunity to cast our votes in the spring election. With a presidential primary, the State Supreme Court Justice race, and the Oshkosh Area School District referendum, we hope that many people will exercise their right to vote. So, don't get turned away at the polls because you didn't have a photo ID.
Remember this year, you must show proof of identification to vote and for some of us that's an easy things to do because we have a photo ID. However, for others who don't drive or have a photo ID, getting one can be confusing or even a burden. So, if you or someone you know needs to have transportation to the Oshkosh office of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), our friends at the County provided us with the following information:
Ways to get a ride to the DMV in Oshkosh if you need a State ID to Vote
If you are age 65 or over in Winnebago County needing a ride to the DMV:
- The RSVP program of ADVOCAP will have drivers available to pick up those who need to go to the DMV. People will be picked up at their residence, and the drivers will wait at the DMV, and then take people back to their home. ** Call the Winnebago County ADRC at 1-877-866-2372 to request a ride. **
Cost is free to everyone!
For anyone of any age in the City of Oshkosh needing a ride to the DMV:
- Rides will be available on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM (Noon) only.
- Rides will originate from the Downtown Oshkosh Transit, go to the DMV, then return to the Downtown Oshkosh Transit Center. ** Call 920-225-1719 before 2:00 PM on March 29, 2016 to request a ride. **
Again, the Cost is free to everyone!
So, hopefully everyone will be able to get to the DMV to get their photo ID. To avoid long lines, don't wait too long as there could be a rush at the DMV before April 5th.
